Successfully Energization of AC Feild in Dumanjug Converter Substation of MVIP

On October 19, the AC field of Visayas side Dumanjug converter station of MVIP project in the Philippines was successfully energied at one time and put into operation smoothly.

It is reported that the MVIP project is a cross-sea HVDC transmission EPC project connecting Visayas Islands and Mindanao in the Philippines, and FEPEC is undertaking the construction of two ±350 kV converter stations, two electrode substations and five AC substations renovation and expansion projects. The completion of the project can realize the national network of the Philippines and make the Philippine national grid more powerful and stable.

Since the start of the project, it has been affected by various unfavorable factors, such as the delay of land handover, the global COVID-19 pandemic, the frontal attack of typhoon, and the ban of sand and gravel mining in Cebu tourist island, which made the project construction difficult. In order to “snatch back” the delayed time and “make up” the losses caused, management team of the project department always stick to their posts, work together, overcome difficulties, concentrate their strength and resources, optimize the construction plan, adjust the division of labors, grab time, catch up with the progress. On October 16, Dumanjug converter station AC field 138 kV bus bar was successfully energied at one time; on October 18, AC field No. 1 power transformer was successfully energied at one time; on October 19, AC field No. 2 main transformer was successfully energied at one time.

The commissioning of Dumanjug converter station creates conditions for the next step of HVDC system commissioning, and also lays a solid foundation for achieving the overall project DC charging target.

2022 Charity Event

On August 22, 2022 (Monday), Powerchina Fujian Engineering Co., Ltd. Team jointly planned a charity event program. Prior to the event, the Fujian team conducted in-person interviews with the teachers and staff at the recipient school to learn more about the plight of the student, particularly on rainy days. The majority of kids are from extremely low-income families and cannot afford to purchase necessities during the wet season.

The charity event was held in Katangkas Elementary School located in Brgy. Katangkas, Municipality of Dumanjug a province in Cebu, the school has seven (7) classrooms with 10 to 15 students per room, they cater kindergarten up to grade 6. During the event, a Fujian representative speaks in front of the students and shares advice, words of wisdom, and encouragement. Afterward, Fujian representatives started distributing school supplies which includes notebooks, papers, a pack of pencils, and other materials for their studies, and some tokens to the school staff. 

By witnessing the smiles on the students’ faces as they accept a simple present, we find it difficult to fully describe our feeling. They have a much higher chance of a brighter future if we help them engage in school. Doing little things can sometimes mean far more than receiving a wonderful gift. A child’s smile is what we consider to be the most gorgeous thing in the world. Knowing that you are the cause of it is the next best thing.

2019 Charity Event

In the Philippines, there is a group of Chinese from PowerChina Fujian Engineering Co., Ltd. Ten years from now, they actively participate in "the Belt and Road" energy projects, and have completed more than twenty power transmission and substation projects in different voltage levels. Fujian has dedicated high-quality projects to the country, and has trained a number of engineering and technical management personnel. Fujian has led efforts to improve the local power grid structure, to alleviate the situation of shortage of electric power, and to give impetus to economic development. In their spare time. They also help the needy students, and bloom the flowers of love in a foreign country.

On July 5, volunteers from PowerChina Fujian Engineering Co., Ltd jointly planned a charity event. The event was held in a school in the province of Cavite in the Philippines. The school is made up of a patchwork of residential buildings and barely have enough classroom space for students, they cater pre-school to Grade school and SPED. The volunteers firstly introduce themselves, one of the Fujian Representative had a short welcoming remarks and presentation to explain the purpose of their charity work. After that they carefully prepared several games and prizes for the students including "Fujian Picture Puzzle", "Word Hunt", and "Speaking Chinese". Fujian was intended to help them broaden their horizons in a fun way. Afterward, the volunteers gives schoolbags, stationery and notepads to every students, encouraging them to be more motivated and finish their studies. Fujian also distributed some giveaways to the staff and local government personnel who help to make the Charity event possible and successful. Nothing’s more satisfying than seeing smiles on each child’s face, even through small things it has an big impact in their lives.

In 1958, Fujian Water Power Engineering Installation Team was established, and was renamed again and again as Fujian Electric Installation Engineering Department, Fujian Mechanical and Electric Installation Engineering Company, and Fujian Electric Power Engineering Company.

In June 29, 1989, According to professional division, Fujian Electric Power Engineering Company was divided into Fujian First Electric Power Engineering Company and Fujian Second Electric Power Engineering Company.

In September 29, 2011, Power Construction Corporation of China was established. Fujian First Electric Power Engineering Company was the part of Power Construction Corporation of China.

In September 4, 2012, Fujian Electric Power Engineering Contracting Company became the subsidiary company of Fujian First Electric Power Engineering Company.

In November 17, 2014, Fujian First Electric Power Engineering Company became the subsidiary company of Shanghai Electric Power Engineering Company.

In December 22, 2017, Fujian First Electric Power Engineering Company was successfully rebuilt, and it was named as PowerChina Fujian Engineering Co., LTD.

I have the capacity to undertake various types of electric construction projects, including thermal power plants, wind power, solar power, nuclear power and auxiliary production facilities. Also I am able to undertake the various voltage grade of transmission line projects, power substation projects and civil construction projects.

 

For the sixty years, I have businesses in nineteen provinces throughout the world. I have built nearly 200 units of power generators, had installed capacity exceeded 30 million kilowatts, and completed more than 20000 km of transmission line projects.

I possess construction technologies for transmission and transformation projects of various voltage classes and have successfully developed and applied multiple wiring technologies of power-on and over-live-wires construction. I am a foundation construction master of rocky and soft ground, and have accumulated technologies tower erection, tension stringing and large-section conductor laying of different combinations. Over the past sixty years, I as undertaken more than 300 transmission and transformation projects of no less than 110 KV with the aggregate length of transmission line to be over 20,000km. The Project undertaken and constructed by me currently in Brazil and the Philippines cover all voltage classes of the country. And now, I have undertaken the expansion, re-construction and upgrading of national grid systems in Bangladesh.

I have made great achievements in new energy construction such as wind power, photovoltaic, garbage, distributed energy sources and biomass power generation. In China, I have participated in the construction of the wind power project with the largest unit capacity (3.45 MW) on Mainland, the offshore wind power project with the largest unit capacity (5 MW) commercially operated, the first offshore wind power project on sourth-earstern coast, the largest terrestrial photovoltaic power plant, the wind power project of Fujian, the first waste incineration plant and the first natural-gas distributed energy source station in Fujian Province, making a lot of records.

The projects constructed by me have won several awards, including the “Luban Prize” for Construction Project for one time, National Quality Project Award for nine times, China Electric Power Quality Project Award for eleven times, the Bechtel Global Outstanding Project Award for one time, the “Min River Cup Quality Project Award” of Fujian Province for three times, the Outstanding Overseas Project Award of the State Grid for three times and the National Outstanding Welding Project Award for six times.

Fepec: Another Project Was Successfully Completed

In 2014, improving power system in People’s Republic of Philippines, National Grid Corporation of The Philippines (NGCP) implemented the Agus6 Substation upgraded project. Upon the effective construction management and productive supply chain performance, Fujian Electric Power Engineering Company successfully carried on and won this bidding project. The major parts of the project consist of a series of 69kV and the reconstruction of the old station (6 strings of 69kV, 3 strings of 138kV).

During the early Site Inspection, We perceived that the agus6 substation was surrounded by mountains, and it was beside a cliff waterfall. The relatively remote location caused the transportation and workers’ accommodation extremely inconvenient. 138kV was the highest voltage level in the region's power grid. Also, the Agus6 Substation plays the significant role of junction of two hydropower stations and a power station in the Northern part of Mindanao.

Not only the inconvenient transportation and accommodation, but FEPEC’s workers as foreigners also had to overcome the cultural difference and communication. The project required many workers. Because of the sultry weather, frequent showers and harmful mosquito, several workers have been hospitalized for dengue fever. Furthermore, due to the weak structure of the local power grid, the importance of the agus6 substation is self-evident. Unlike other projects, the major construction of this project is not allowed to cut power. The scenario requires a higher technical level and management capabilities.

Fortunately, under highly effective and technical planning and construction, the Agus6 Substation project was successfully completed in August 2018. This Agus6’s upgraded project fully used Chinese product and Chinese Technology including high-voltage equipment and integrated system.

2018 “The Belt and Road”: New Bidding Awards

Recently, Fujian Electric Power Engineering Company has won the bid of two power transmission and transformation projects offered by National Grid Corporation of Philippines, setting a record of total bid amount in the projects contracted with the Philippines.

It is reported that EPC indicates general contracting of Engineering, Procurement and Construction, also known as turnkey general contracting. General contractor enterprises undertake the engineering, procurement, construction, trial operation and services of projects in accordance with the contract, and take full responsibility for the quality, safety, construction period and cost of contracted projects, which is one of the most important modes of general contracting implemented in China.

The two projects won by Fujian Electric Power Engineering Company from the Philippines refer to EPC General Contracting Project of Cebu Substation (PhaseⅡ) and EPC General Contracting Project of 500 kV Substation in Tuy-Dasmarinas. Lin Bingrun, general manager of Fujian Electric Power Engineering Company, said“this bidding means a good start for market development in Southeast Asia this year and also marks a breakthrough in international business development model for our company”. The company thoroughly implements the national initiative of“The Belt and Road” and increases its efforts in deepening the overseas market. This successful bidding is a rich fruit resulting from strength and reputation by implementing the development strategy to form an international market pattern of “Wings Flying” in Southeast Asia and South America in the coming year, actively improving the comprehensive capacity of EPC power transmission and distribution and enhancing the company’s competitiveness in the development of power transmission construction and even overall power construction.

Lin Bingrun said that Fujian Electric Power Engineering Company started to develop business in the Philippines at the earliest time. Since 2007, the company has contracted seven projects of 230 kV Concepcion-Clark transmission lines and built several important hub substations such as 230 kV Davao Substation and 350 kV Karabongka DC Station in the Philippines, first becoming the qualified general contractor certified by National Grid Corporation of Philippines. In accordance with the overall layout of overseas business development, the company summarizes development experience of over 10 years in the Philippines and will continue to work hard.

It is reported that, in recent years, Fujian Electric Power Engineering Company has exerted more efforts to overseas contracting and developed new markets in South America and Africa. In addition, the company has won the bid of EPC project to upgrade National Power Grid of Bangladesh – a country along “The Belt and Road”.
